SOTI: Swipe Off The Ink!

Education isn’t a privilege, it’s a right. Education is also the key to everything. Our innovative idea aims to produce an advance and interactive teaching approach for both students and teachers all across Malaysia, hence we invented “Swipe off The Ink” (SOTI), a smart whiteboard. Our whiteboard, which is equipped with a small pad that we dubbed; e-Pad, is short for Eraser Pad which allows teachers to clean the whiteboard with swipes of a finger. Other features built-in SOTI are screen capture, announcement, reminders and notices side bar and also a digital time and date. SOTI only runs on our one of a kind markers, called the Magic Markers. Our target customers for SOTI is mainly private organizations in hopes to fund for the installation of SOTI in schools all across Malaysia. Other than that, we also target the teaching staffs in any level of learning institutions be it primary, secondary or tertiary.

      ⇨     What kind of features are built in the smart whiteboard?

SOTI whiteboard is a smart whiteboard that requires the magic marker for writing purposes, has the ability to screen capture, comes with a special device called e-Pad to erase the whiteboard with swipes of a finger and a built-in announcements, reminders and notifications side bar.

     ⇨   Why should we install the SOTI whiteboard and remove the ordinary whiteboard that is currently used in learning institutions?

SOTI is able to produce an advanced and interactive learning approach in schools. This can draw the students’ attention and also reduce the workload of teachers.

      ⇨     When will the SOTI whiteboard be available in the market?

SOTI will be installed in schools all across Malaysia after the targeted amount of funding of SOTI is achieved.

     ⇒  How does the SOTI whiteboard functions?

SOTI whiteboard runs on electricity and electricity alone. It is connected to the e-Pad which is connected to the whiteboard in order to erase the ink on the whiteboard. SOTI also has a digital announcements and notifications sidebar, not forgetting a digital time and date too. With the ability to screen capture, the notes on SOTI can be used for future references.

⇒ Where can we promote the SOTI whiteboard in order for it becomes a recognized and popular innovation?

By promoting it on electronic medias such as social networking, radios and televisions as it is easy to deliver the advertisement to the public. We will also have often visits to private organisations and companies to raise awareness on the importance of education by distributing brochures that features the benefit, usage and prices of the product and thus introduce them to SOTI.

     ⇨       Who are our target customers?

Our target customers are the private organisations in order for them to fund the installation of SOTI in schools all across Malaysia. Besides that, we also target those in the education field, teachers and students.

Product Design & Features

Just like the typical average whiteboards in classroom, SOTI has a length of 6 feet and a height of 4 feet. The specific features of SOTI and the elaboration are as below:

1.0: The overview of what is SOTI

➤ The digital date and date is located at the top right corner. It will appear automatically and students or teachers need not need to take the trouble to change the date daily or change batteries if the clock died. The time and date can be adjusted in the settings in the e-Pad.

↬  We also added a notification, announcement and notices side bar. It is also located at the top right corner. It will popped up over the date and time and disappear after a few seconds. This feature is very useful in order to remind the class about important reminders.

↬ The Magic Markers does not need to be refilled as it works on electromagnetic force. The ink will appear when comes in contact with the whiteboard. When purchased, we include 8 markers which consist of 3 blue inked, 3 black inked and 2 red inked.

↠   SOTI comes along with a pad that we dubbed e-Pad. The e-Pad measures a length of 14.5cm, a height of 7.5cm, a width of 1cam and 16cm diagonal screen display. The swipe erasing is used from this pad. We also built in several applications in order to access the other features. We decided not to add a writing feature in this pad because we want the teachers to interact with the students as he or she is writing whilst explaining in class.

Conclusion

SOTI whiteboard aims to ameliorate the standard of teaching in Malaysia by making the whiteboard of the classroom more productive and captivating. Albeit our main feature is the swiping of the ink, we added several features such as screen capture and an announcement, notice and reminder sidebar to make SOTI more valuable and has a high potential in the market. Besides that, SOTI can also reduce management workload and improve professional developments in teacher.  We also want to reduce the gap between the urban and rural schools and make sure their all students in Malaysia have equal access to leaning. We wholeheartedly believe that SOTI can make a huge impact in the Malaysian education system.
